The defamation inclusion is aimed squarely at deterring whistleblowers and getting through the World Cup in Qatar. The corruption one is hardly surprising; there are many skeletons in FIFA's closets.
Unfortunately it appears as business as usual in Zurich.

Coming to a league near you...
The whole thing stinks and "we" are also stuck in it.

Groundhog Day.
It seems picking a FIFA head from the same production line that produced Sep Blatter is resulting in similar governance issues.
Criminal proceedings are being brought against Infantino, essentially for behind closed doors power plays.

Very interesting move by UEFA and CONMEBOL http://www.insideworldfootball.com/2021 ... game-play/
FIFA's push for a biennial World Cup is encouraging those in UEFA, and CONMEBOL who would prefer to ignore FIFA. This latest development appears to be undertaken without any FIFA involvement or engagement.
If FIFA are not careful UEFA & CONMEBOL may walk, effectively rendering FIFA bankrupt and meaningless.

Infantino keeps pursuing the biennial World Cup. I can see this ending in tears.

FIFA still seems to be lagging rather than leading with UEFA forcing FIFA's hand in regards to Russia.
The moral position on banning national teams due to geo-politics and conflict is complicated, however FIFA was facing the real prospect of the World Cup turning into a farce if Russia qualified through teams refusing to play them and then progressed through the World Cup on the same basis.
Not that FIFA has proven to be an organisation whose decision making is crippled by moral considerations.
