A medical test is seen as the only thing that is keeping Leckie’s move to Monchengladbach from being a done deal, but he is expected to leave for Germany to undergo the medical within the next week.
“I’ll definitely be heading over to Germany in the next week but there hasn’t been a date set yet, so we’ve just got to work out a few things and go from there,” Leckie said.

Leaving the flight fairly late. Qantas must be rubbing their hands together at the thought.

off the borussia site

"önchengladbach - Borussia Mönchengladbach have finalised the signing of Australian U-19 international Matthew Leckie from Adelaide United.

The 20-year-old forward is moving from down under on a free transfer and will join the Foals on July 1st, on a three-year contract.

"We've obtained a guest player licence for Matthew Leckie to allow him to start training with us right away and adapt himself to the German game", Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl said. "He's a very talented, pacy forward, and we're confident he'll do well in Germany."

So Munchinggladbag got relegated right?
If so its probably one thing you hear these days that is almost good for clubs. Sure in the EPL there's £40m difference between the EPL and the Championship but with clubs going down it often cleans out of the club's better players and it can give youth a chance to shine for the club. Like Dylan Tombildes (i can't remember how to spell his name) at West Ham. He'll probably get much more first 11 game time now that West Ham have gone down. The same is probably true with Leckie. And you never know these young guns may blitz it for the club get them promoted and then move to a bigger club for a nice transfer fee and then the club may have made up the revenue lost from being out of the top flight.

Presumably you didn't read the article then?

The very first sentence explains that they won their playoff to stay in the Bundesliga.

yeah i'm on my phone and clicking on those links takes forever :(
So it'll be interesting how much gametime Leckie gets in the top flight. Not a great deal to begin with i would expect. But if he keeps improving at the rate he is anything is possible!

I dont see how being relegated is ever a positive stuckey.

Particulary in germany where the second tier is still very strong

If Leckie is good enough he will play - and I reckon they willplay him. He has a lot of the qualities that the Bundesliga looks for in its wide attacking players.

I'm with you on that one. He's also strong enough to not get pushed off the ball too easily which should make him a good option off the bench against tiring defenders.

Spot on, that was my impression as well, if he can take 20-30 minute subs and give it a good shake like he did for AUFC I reckon he could be off and away!
